Brendan Rodgers makes Kieran Tierney claim amid return rumours
Kieran Tierney has been constantly linked with a return to Celtic for the last few years, since things started to go wrong for him at Arsenal. The Scottish left-back had been superb during his first few years with the North London club. But a series of injuries combined with the arrival of other players in his position have meant that he has lost his place in Mikel Arteta's side.
Tierney spent the previous season out on loan at Real Sociedad and did well for the La Liga club when fit. One would have expected him to depart Arsenal in the summer, either on a permanent basis or on temporarily once again.
Unfortunately, Tierney suffered an injury while representing Scotland at the EUROs. That ended any hopes of a summer move. But he is believed to be closing in on fitness and there have been rumours of a return to Celtic in January.
Those rumours were further intensified when Tierney attended a Celtic charity event recently alongside Brendan Rodgers. The two have previously enjoyed great success together at Parkhead. Could it be time for a reunion?

Rodgers did not give much away when talking about Tierney attending the club's charity event but did admit that he has maintained contact with him over the years. As reported by The Scottish Sun, the Celtic manager said:
"It was great to see Kieran.
“I've always been in contact with him since we were both down there and it was really nice to see him.
“He has been out injured, so it was a nice touch by the club to invite him.
“He was a great player for this club and it's unfortunate how it's gone for him at Arsenal with his injury and stuff.
“But it doesn't take much now to get tongues wagging!"
Most Celtic fans would welcome Tierney back with open arms and quality-wise, he would be one of the club's best players immediately if not the very best. The question marks have never been over his ability though.
Tierney has always struggled with fitness problems and they have only gotten worse over the last few years. He is still a fantastic player but one who is barely available for more than half the season due to constant injuries. So, the club need to be very careful if they want to bring back the Scottish left-back.
