After how the most recent summer transfer window went, it feels almost inevitable that Brendan Rodgers will leave Celtic soon. Whether that will be next summer, when his contract runs out, or in the middle of this season, is the question at this point in time. Hoops fans will be hoping that it is the first of the two.

The club have left Rodgers with a weakened squad as he looks to win Celtic their fifth straight league title. There is perhaps a greater chance of making a bigger impact on the Europa League as well.

But unfortunately, considering the squad that Celtic have right now, it has become tough for them to do either of the two. Let's just say that they have done a great job of making sure that there is a title race this time around.

On the other hand, the timing of Rodgers' exit might remain in the air but it looks like the manager already has plans in place for where he wants to go next. And it is not the Premier League like most would assume.

As reported by CeltsAreHere, Alan Nixon reported that friends of Rodgers believe that he wants a new challenge after years moving back and forth across the border. He will look abroad for his next managerial role when he leaves Celtic and his preference is a move to Europe.

Rodgers has achieved pretty everything that he can in both Scotland and England. Of course, many would claim that he did not win the Premier League, despite coming close with Liverpool.

Will a level of that club come calling though? It feels unlikely. Going to one of the other top European leagues and trying on a different challenge might prove to be a lot more fulfilling as a manager.
