Earlier, news broke out that the Rangers were in talks to sack Philippe Clement as their manager after this weekend's defeat at the hands of St Mirren. They had the chance to close the gap with Celtic in the title race but instead lost 2-0 to St Mirren at Ibrox. And that appears to have been the last straw for the struggling club.
If the latest information is accurate, then it looks like the sacking has taken place already. As reported by Heart & Hand Podcast, it is done. Clement has been sacked. Official confirmation will follow soon but the staff have been informed.
They then went on to put out a podcast episode regarding Clement's sacking as well. So, it looks like it is as good as done and the Ibrox club will probably make the official announcement in the near future.
Expect somebody other than Clement to be in the Ibrox hot seat for the Rangers' next game. Of course, Celtic fans are not particularly thrilled with the news of the Belgian's departure.

Celtic fans would have preferred for Clement to remain the Rangers' manager for as long as possible. It was clear that the team were headed nowhere under the Belgian's watch.
Now, it will be interesting to see who the club end up appointing next. Steven Gerrard is available after departing Al-Ettifaq recently. One would expect the name of Kevin Muscat to crop as well. Or perhaps the club will decide to go after an interim boss before making a long-term appointment in the summer.
It is safe to say that Celtic will not be too worried about the situation. Brendan Rodgers has made a habit of outlasting Rangers managers. Who is going to be next?
