Bold Celtic vs RB Leipzig claim made after heroic draw
It is not often that you will find the media covering a Celtic draw for days, unless it is to criticise the Hoops. This time around, the picture looks very different though. After the Hoops earned a point against Atalanta in Bergamo, they have gotten nothing but plaudits for their performance away in Italy.
In many ways, this was the kind of performance many had been waiting for. For Celtic to show that they can go away in the Champions League and get a result against a top side. When was the last time they did that?
Atalanta might not have a heavyweight name like AC Milan, Juventus or Inter Milan, but they have been one of the best teams in Italy for some time now. Right now, they are the highest scorers in the ongoing Serie A season.
So, keeping a clean sheet in their own backyard was not an easy task. Especially with Cameron Carter-Vickers and Greg Taylor ruled out through injury. But Celtic got the job done, earned a valuable point and it should give them a ton of confidence in their upcoming Champions League matches.

Pat Nevin appears to believe that Celtic are pretty well-placed after three matches and upcoming games, like the one against RB Leipzig, are not beyond them. As reported by 67 Hail Hail, he told Football Daily:
"So when you look at it now, a point away from home at Atalanta, that’s a really good result, right? They lost against Dortmund. They were going to lose that anyway.
“And they’ve won their home game. You look at what they’ve got coming up now. their next game is Leipzig.
“And I’ve watched Leipzig tonight. That’s not beyond them. Bruges at home. Again, it’s Celtic Park. That’s not beyond them. Then they’ve got Young Boys who have already seen this season as well against Aston Villa. Not beyond them.
“Celtic are actually not that bad a position just now."
On paper, Celtic have three winnable games remaining in the first phase of the Champions League. They need to make sure that they take maximum points from those. The ones against RB Leipzig and Aston Villa are viewed as difficult.
But, it is worth pointing out that RB Leipzig have lost all three of their Champions League games so far this season. They might have a big name but getting a result against them might not be impossible at all.
