Going into the winter transfer window, it was abundantly clear that Celtic needed to add to their options up top. With merely a week left, they have done it to a certain extent. Tomas Cvancara has been brought in on loan from Borussia Monchengladbach for the rest of the season, with there believed to be a £7 million option to sign him permanently in the summer.
But Celtic could do with another striker. One they were linked with earlier in the window is very familiar to the Parkhead fans.
Reports had broken out that Kyogo was set for a return to Celtic Park. But they turned out to be off the mark, as it turned out that Birmingham City were not ready to part ways with the Japanese international despite his poor start to life at the Championship club.
Things seem to have changed in that regard, though. As reported by Football Insider, Birmingham City are willing to listen to offers for Kyogo in the final 10 days of the January window. Swansea City are plotting a move for the Japanese striker.
Birmingham City make Kyogo U-turn after earlier Celtic fail
It is unclear whether Celtic would still be interested in a move for Kyogo, having been turned down earlier in the window. It is worth mentioning that the club have added to their striker ranks since by bringing in Cvancara.
It remains to be seen how active Celtic will be in the last few days of the window. There is a lot of work to do, and not much time left.
Going back for Kyogo would be a popular move amongst the fans, that is for sure. He is a proven goalscorer in Scottish football, and a move back to Parkhead might be exactly what he needs, having struggled at both Rennes and Birmingham City.
