Most Celtic fans believe that the club need to sign another striker. With Jota out injured and Nicolas Kuhn no longer at Parkhead, it is more than likely that Daizen Maeda will have to play as a winger for the foreseeable future. On the other hand, Adam Idah has never really been able to go out and make the number 9 spot his own, despite getting several chances to do so over the years.

Celtic have added to the striker department this summer, bringing in both Shin Yamada and Callum Osmand. But there are question marks over whether either is ready to push for a starting spot.

Celtic need someone with a bit more proven experience. And that is what saw them being linked with Richard Kone of Wycombe Wanderers by the English media last month.

Kone scored 21 goals for Wycombe last season. While he might have been playing at the League One level, the 22-year-old clearly knows his way to the back of the net. Even Ivan Toney was playing in the third division when Celtic missed the chance to sign him, bringing in Albian Ajeti instead. We all know how that turned out.

If Celtic want to sign Kone, they will have to move quickly, because he is a man in demand this summer. As reported by EFL Analysis, Swansea City have put £4.5 million on Wycombe’s table.

It is believed that a £5 million fee would be enough to convince Wycombe to part ways with Kone. So, Swansea City might not be far away from the finish line. If Celtic want him, they need to make a move of their own and soon.

Of course, it is very possible that Celtic are no longer interested in Kone. But then again, sooner or later, the Hoops need to make signings. Right now, they seem to be standing still and the squad has stagnated as a result.
