Celtic should be looking to get their business done early in the upcoming transfer window, like they used to during the Ange Postecoglou era. This time around, despite winning the Premiership, the Hoops will need to secure qualification to the UEFA Champions League, something that they have struggled to pull off in the recent past. In the previous three seasons, they had earned direct qualification to the competition.

One can only hope that Celtic make their signings early rather than wait to see if they qualify for the Champions League and make their transfer plans accordingly. The latest news might help them in that regard.

Of course, for a club like Celtic, it is important to work under a transfer budget. That could be boosted thanks to a sell-on fee from Jeremie Frimpong's impending move.

As reported by BBC Sport, Liverpool are ready to trigger the release clause of Frimpong. It is understood to be in the region of €35m (£29.5m).

Frimpong is a fantastic talent, there is no doubt about that. So, it is not hard to understand why a move to Liverpool seems to be on the verge of happening with Trent Alexander-Arnold set to leave as a free agent this summer and expected to join Real Madrid.

Frimpong spent only one-and-a-half seasons with Celtic before joining Bayer Leverkusen in early 2021. The transfer fee was believed to be in the region of £11 million.

Celtic are also believed to hold a sell-on clause as high as 30%, if reports in the Scottish media are accurate. That would mean a pretty substantial figure for them, if or when Liverpool end up meeting the Dutchman's release clause. For now, the Hoops need to focus on the task at hand though, which is winning the Scottish Cup final.
