There are quite a few candidates who seem to be in the running for the Celtic job. Wilfried Nancy is being viewed as the frontrunner for the time being, although he has no experience of managing in Europe. If you ask the supporters, most would like it if Kjetil Knutsen was appointed as the next manager of the Hoops.

Knutsen has a proven record in European football. He has won four league titles with Bodo/Glimt and might very well get his hands on a fifth one soon. At the same time, he has achieved some historic results with them in Europe as well, getting to the Europa League semi-finals last season, the first Norwegian side to do so. This time around, they have qualified for their first ever campaign in the Champions League.

Knutsen has been at Bodo/Glimt since 2018. So, a change of scenery might not be a bad idea. Unfortunately, it looks like he might be set to extend his stay.

There have been reports that Celtic are holding talks with managerial candidates in London this week. As reported by Michael Shearer of CeltsAreHere, Knutsen is currently home in Bergen and is likely to stay at Bodø/Glimt beyond January.

Bad news confirmed about Kjetil Knutsen to Celtic move

Is that the end of the speculation surrounding Knutsen and Celtic? Well, probably not, until a new manager is officially appointed.

That being said, from everything we are hearing over the last few days, it feels very unlikely that Knutsen will be in contention for the job. And to be honest, it is not hard to understand why.

In terms of size and history, Celtic are far bigger than Bodo/Glimt. But on the pitch, are they ahead of the Norwegian side? Probably not. They did lose 5-1 on aggregate when they met Knutsen's team during Ange Postecoglou's debut campaign at Parkhead. And the gap seems to have only grown since then.
