Will Martin O'Neill still be the Celtic manager by the time this international break comes to an end? We are not sure. He is in interim charge of the team right now, having been brought in to steady the ship after Brendan Rodgers' resignation a couple of weeks. The recent reports coming out of the media suggest that things are moving in the right direction when it comes to the Hoops' search for a permanent boss.
O'Neill is a club legend and has produced some positive results since taking over. That being said, one cannot forget that he is 73 years old and had been out of management since 2019 before this opportunity came around. There is no way he can be considered a long-term solution for Celtic at this point.
Some fans do want to see him get the job until the end of the season. And there is some merit to that idea for sure. O'Neill has delivered results, and if he can continue to do that, perhaps it would make sense sticking with him rather than bringing in someone new and derailing the momentum that has built up.
On the other hand, there is also the line of thinking that the new manager should get the winter transfer window to rebuild the squad. There are pros and cons to each idea.
'Holding talks' - Sky Sports man drops big update on next Celtic manager
Celtic do not seem to be sitting still. As reported by Anthony Joseph, the club have been holding talks in London this week with various targets as they continue their search for a new manager.
If reports coming out of the media are accurate, then there are three managers in the running for the Celtic job. The frontrunner seems to be Wilfried Nancy of Columbus Crew. Other than that, Kjetil Knutsen of Bodo/Glimt and Kieran McKenna of Ipswich Town have also been considered.
That being said, it would not be a surprise if some names crop up that have not been mentioned yet. So, let's just wait and watch how things play out.
