At this point in time, it feels like Celtic need to add another striker to their ranks. Kyogo Furuhashi has brought an end to his iconic run at Parkhead in order to join Rennes. On the other hand, Adam Idah does not seem like a reliable option at the moment. He managed to get a brace against Aston Villa but did not score in the 14 outings before that. On current form, he might not be the one to lead the line for the Hoops, week in and week out.
Celtic have been linked with several forwards in recent times. But one of them appears to be headed elsewhere albeit on a loan basis.
The player we are talking about is Louie Barry who impressed tremendously while on loan at Stockport County in the first half of the campaign. Now though, he looks set to stay put at Aston Villa while continuing to develop his game elsewhere.
As reported by Aston Villa's official account, Louie Barry has signed a new contract. He will immediately join Hull City on loan for the remainder of the season.
Aston Villa made announcement right before Celtic game
Celtic had been linked with Barry quite a bit in the ongoing winter transfer window. But for now, it looks like his long-term future remains with Aston Villa.
As for Celtic, it will be interesting to see how they fill their need for another striker. There have been some suggestions that the club could try to change Daizen Maeda's role and play him through the centre while Jota is handed his spot on the left flank.
Idah's brace against Aston Villa is cause for optimism as well. Maybe he needs a regular run as a starter in order to showcase his best form.
That might work. Perhaps it won't. Most fans would be happy if the club did bring in a like-for-like replacement for Kyogo though.
