There do not seem to be any straightforward transfer sagas when it comes to Celtic. The club seem to be eyeing a move for Kasper Dolberg right now. On the other hand, Swansea City already have a deal in place to sign Adam Idah, but that will go through only if the Scottish champions are able to bring in a replacement first.
Considering how the departures of Kyogo and Nicolas Kuhn were handled, it is easy to understand why Brendan Rodgers wants a replacement to be brought in first before green-lighting Idah's departure. The fact that the Irishman was not even named on the bench against the Rangers at Ibrox, a fixture he has had success in in the past, just goes to show his current situation. But this seems to be a transfer domino that extends beyond that.
It appears that Anderlecht have the same plan in place as well. They are waiting for a replacement to arrive if sanctioning Dolberg's exit. You can clearly see a chain of transfer moves forming. And if one step does not work out, the entire thing might be up in the air.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Anderlecht are hoping to bring in another striker before allowing Dolberg to leave. They have made a bid for Genoa striker Vitinha. Celtic remain in talks.
Anthony Joseph drops late-night Kasper Dolberg to Celtic update
Well, let's see how this entire situation plays out. There is very little time left in the summer transfer window and a lot of hurdles still to overcome for Celtic to get a deal done for Dolberg.
Dolberg is a striker with a solid goalscoring record across multiple teams over the course of his career. He had 45 goals in 119 games for Ajax, 24 in 85 for Nice and 44 in 95 for his current team, Anderlecht. He has also made 55 appearances for the Denmark national team.
Also, at 27 years of age, he might only be entering his prime. Rarely do Celtic sign strikers in that age bracket.
It is also worth mentioning that Celtic are not the only club trying to sign Dolberg late in the summer transfer window. Borussia Monchengladbach are believed to be looking at the Danish international striker as a potential signing as well.
So, things could get difficult for Celtic. And with so little time left in the window, they might not even have much of an opportunity to change directions in case the situation does not play out as they would have hoped for. This is far from ideal, to say the least.
