It is safe to say that Celtic fans are not happy with how the club have conducted their transfer business so far this summer. The hope is that the focus has been clearing out the roster so far and now, the Hoops will turn their attention towards making signings. A loan move for Jahmai Simpson-Pusey has been agreed recently and the Manchester City centre-back could be presented on Flag Day.
On the other hand, the Rangers have been completing deals. But it is not like they have been bringing in many proven players either, mostly relying on loan signings of those who do not have much of a future at their current clubs.
Conor Coady is a high-profile name that the Rangers have been linked with all summer though. The Liverpool youth academy graduate has played Premier League football for the likes of Wolves, Everton and Leicester City. He also has ten international caps for England.
So, someone like Coady would be viewed as a marquee signing for the Rangers. But it looks like the chance to sign him might be slipping out of their fingers.
Anthony Joseph confirms Rangers blow Celtic fans will love
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Wrexham have made a £2 million bid for Coady. The 32-year-old centre-back would be open to exploring a move to the Championship side, if a deal can be agreed with Leicester City.
There is no doubt that that is a blow to the Rangers' hopes of signing Coady. Will they lose out in the race to Wrexham? It might be a bit of a wake-up call for their supporters. The Ibrox side have made an approach for the England international already this summer.
Of course, Celtic cannot waste too much time thinking about what is going wrong, or right, at Ibrox. They have their own problems to solve and seem to be intent on spending even less money than the Rangers in this window.
