This past weekend was not a good one for former Celtic managers. Of course, we have all heard about the sacking of Ange Postecoglou. The Australian had joined Nottingham Forest just 39 days back but after failing to win any of the eight games since, he was shown the exit door merely 18 minutes after the end of their game against Chelsea.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for the Australian. It is sage to say that this is not how he would expected things to turn out and getting his next job will be tough, especially if he wants to remain in the Premier League.

Interestingly, Postecoglou was not the only former Celtic manager to be shown the exit door this past weekend. Another one followed him quickly.

As reported by Atlanta United's official website, the club have dismissed head coach Ronny Deila. A global search for a new permanent one will begin immediately.

Deila did win a few trophies during his time at Celtic but it still was not a grand success by any means, that is for sure. And after leaving the Scottish club, he did resurrect his career to a large extent.

He had good spells at New York City and then at Standard Liege. But once again, things seem to have gone south for him recently.

He had a poor spell at Club Brugge, which was followed up by another one at Al-Wahda. And now, things have not gone to plan at Atlanta United either.

This leaves Deila in a less-than-ideal situation. To be fair to Atlanta United, they gave him the full season and ended up finishing second-bottom in the Eastern Conference and with the second-worst points tally in the entire league. So, it is easy to see why the decision was made to sack the manager.
