Over the past several weeks, we have seen Celtic being linked with a long list of players all over the pitch. Of course, a lot of the focus has been on signing strikers, wingers and centre-backs. Even the left-back spot has gotten a bit of the spotlight with both Greg Taylor and Jeffrey Schlupp leaving, meaning Kieran Tierney has no backup option right now.
One area that Celtic cannot overlook though is their midfield. It feels as if it has taken a bit of a backseat over the past few weeks. But not too long ago, the club were being linked with a different midfielder pretty much everyday.
One of those midfielders was Moussa Baradji. Capable of playing as both a central and defensive midfielder, the rumours linking Celtic with him had cropped up a couple of weeks ago. He had been a standout in the Swiss league with Yverdon Sport.
Yet now, it looks like the Scottish champions have missed out on the midfielder already. He is headed to the Championship instead. As reported by The Lancashire Telegraph, Blackburn Rovers have agreed a deal to sign Baradji.
'Agreed a deal' - Major news on Celtic midfield target
Someone like Baradji could have been a decent addition to this Celtic team. He has a profile that the Hoops are missing right now. But it is hard to imagine that his signing is going to be make or break for the Scottish champions' summer transfer window.
Celtic have plenty of other midfielders on their radar that they can sign this summer. It would be surprising if they do not end up strengthening their midfield ranks, considering how many players they have been linked with over the past several months.
But right now, the focus seems to be on other areas of the pitch. Hopefully, the signings are made as soon as possible so that they get time to integrate.
