A number of players have been linked with Celtic in recent months. In some cases, the interest has to be genuine. In others, it might be just transfer talk. But at the end of the day, it is hard to figure out which is what. For now, it looks like one of the Hoops' targets is set to join their Scottish rivals this summer.
Celtic have seldom signed players from other Scottish clubs in recent years. But last summer, they did bring in Luke McCowan from Dundee FC. Not only did he prove himself as a decent contributor for Brendan Rodgers' side but also established himself as a fan favourite.
This summer, the club were linked with another Dundee FC player. As reported by EFL Analysis in late May, West Bromwich Albion were competing with Celtic to sign Josh Mulligan.
Unfortunately, it looks like a move to Celtic is not on the cards for Mulligan. West Brom have missed out as well. He will be staying in Scotland and will join one of the Hoops' Premiership rivals.
'Agreed deal' - Fabrizio Romano drops update on Celtic target Josh Mulligan
As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Hibernian have agreed a deal to sign Mulligan from Dundee FC. The medical is set as well.
Even if Mulligan had joined Celtic, he would have been a squad player at best, as has been the case with McCowan. Perhaps he wants to be playing regular football at this point in his career. So, it is not hard to understand why he might have decided to join Hibernian.
Let's see how things go for Mulligan with Hibs. On the other hand, Celtic still need to make signings this summer. Will one or more be made from other Scottish clubs? We will find out very soon. Let's wait and watch.
