Celtic had already agreed a deal for Michel-Ange Balikwisha and now, they have gotten a second deal over the line. The Hoops finally seem to be showing some much-needed urgency in the transfer market with deadline day not even a week away. One can only hope that they continue in this manner and sign a few players players between now and then.
One area where they definiteiy needed to make an addition is left-back. Kieran Tierney's injury record means that they need to have a reliable backup option at all times.
Now, it looks like they are able to bring just that. A move has already been agreed in a major transfer update for the club and the fans.
In a super early morning update, as reported by Anthony Joseph, Celtic have agreed a loan deal for Boca Juniors left-back Marcelo Saracchi. It’s understood the Uruguay international is due to travel to London to undergo a medical, before finalising his move in Glasgow. As things stand, no option to buy has been agreed by the clubs.
'Agreed' - Anthony Joseph confirms another Celtic signing
Having a 27-year-old with nine international caps for Uruguay as your backup option to Tierney at left-back. It does not get better than that if you are Celtic.
Of course, Saracchi is not a stranger to European football either. He has played for more than one notable club in the form of RB Leipzig, Levante and Galatasaray. The most interesting thing about his career though has been the fact that he has turned out for both River Plate and Boca Juniors. Let's just say that he should feel at home in a Glasgow Derby.
It is surprising that no option to buy has been included in the deal. The rumoured figure was believed to be in the region of £2 million. In the recent past, we have seen Celtic not have one and then end up overpaying to sign Adam Idah from Norwich City half a year later, after an impactful loan spell.
