Finally, there seems to be some positivity around Celtic when it comes to transfers. We had almost forgotten what it felt like. And do not get us wrong, the club have still put themselves in a tough spot, as they are going into the all-important Champions League qualifier playoff second leg away in Kazakhstan without enough or quality options in multiple positions.
The club always knew that they would need to qualify for the Champions League this time. So, why did they not make the necessary signings in time? It is an approach that needs to be questioned.
For now, let's focus on the positives. It looks like Celtic are finally going to get the deal for Michel-Ange Balikwisha over the line after monitoring him for over a year.
As reported by Anthony Joseph, Balikwisha is due to arrive in the UK this week to undergo a medical with Celtic. A deal worth up to £5 million has been agreed by the clubs and he's verbally agreed terms.
'Medical' - Anthony Joseph drops Celtic transfer signing news
Of course, the signs were already there. Balikwisha was left out of the Royal Antwerp team yesterday, but he was given a send-off after the match.
It remains to be seen how he will adjust to life at Celtic Park. He was one of the top wingers in Belgium when at the top of his game. But one cannot overlook the injury problems that he has faced in recent times. Will they end up having a long-term impact on him? Or has he completely recovered?
We will find out soon. For now, it is great news that Celtic have added another winger to their ranks. And if rumours are anything to go by then they might be looking to add another before the window closes.
