Aberdeen and Celtic will have very different reasons for wanting to win the Scottish Cup final between the two teams this season. For the Hoops, it would mean a treble, their sixth one in nine seasons. On the other hand, for the Dons, it would be their first trophy in over a decade. The last time they clinched silverware, it was the League Cup back in 2014 after defeating Inverness CT.
It is safe to say that Hampden Park feels like a home ground for Celtic these days. On the other hand, these trips are rarer for Aberden fans and one they will be keen to make the most of.
On the club's official website, Aberdeen announced that an allocation of over 20,000 tickets has been secured for their supporters for the Scottish Cup Final with Celtic. This represents the largest allocation that the Dons have received for a final in recent years and it was only secured after agreeing to underwrite the cost of any unsold tickets.
So, it looks like a healthy number of Aberdeen supporters will be present at Hampden Park to support the Dons. Let's see if that proves to be enough to stop Celtic's winning machine.
Aberdeen make announcement about Scottish Cup final vs Celtic
Celtic had slowed down a little bit in recent months but have picked up the pace once again lately. In each of their previous three games, they have scored five goals, including in the Scottish Cup semi-final.
The Hoops' next game is against the Rangers. That is expected to be a much tougher test. The Ibrox club have given Celtic issues in recent times. They have conceded nine times over the past three Glasgow derbies and lost the previous two.
The result of the derby is not going to have an impact on the league title race though. The only game of consequence left on Celtic's calender is the Scottish Cup final against Aberdeen.
