Celtic endured a bad end to the recent winter transfer window. It was clear that the club needed to sign a striker following the departure of Kyogo Furuhashi to Rennes. But they failed to do that and meet the minimum expectations that the fans had set. Fortunately, Adam Idah has found some form lately and Daizen Maeda has emerged as a possible centre-forward option as well.

All things considered though, the situation is far from ideal. One would hope that Celtic do end up adding to their striker ranks in the summer.

One of the players who was believed to be on their radar late in the summer was David Strelec of Slovan Bratislava. He had come up against Celtic when the two teams met in the Champions League earlier in the season.

Strelec was linked with both Celtic and Middlesbrough. But Slovan Bratislava were believed to be looking for a transfer fee around £9 million, which no club was willing to pay.

Strelec's actions since his failed Slovan Bratislava exit have caught the attention though. It looks like he is not happy with how the entire situation played out.

As reported by the Daily Record, Strelec was left out of Slovan's next game because he wasn't mentally ready to feature. The Slovakian striker returned and scored for the club in their 5-1 league win at Ruzomberok this week. But he refused to celebrate his goal.

It remains to be seen what the future holds for Strelec. If he continues to find the back of the net, there is a very real possibility that Celtic could try to sign him once again. The Hoops do not just give up on their transfer targets if they fail once, as the long-running Mathias Kvistgaarden saga is proof of.
