Celtic are on the lookout for a new manager after Brendan Rodgers resigned as manager earlier in the season. Martin O'Neill is currently in interim charge of the side, but they could go for a surprise name as their next permanent boss.
The Hoops took a chance on Ange Postecoglou, who was the manager of the Yokohama F. Marinos before heading to Scotland. Celtic could turn to another emerging league for their next boss, and that could be MLS.
Wilfried Nancy is the highly rated Columbus Crew manager who has been linked with Celtic. However, there will no doubt be winners and losers if Nancy were to get the job.
3 winners if Wilfried Nancy were to get the Celtic job
MLS
MLS may lose one of its best managers, but this could be good for the league. The North American division has been known for being a retirement home for players. Legends such as David Beckham, Thierry Henry, and Kaká spent the latter part of their careers in MLS.
The division has recently become a development league, with players such as Miguel Almiron and Thiago Almada going on to star for top European clubs. The same could now be the case for managers if Nancy is to go on to be a success at Celtic.
Notable managers, including Jesse Marsch, Patrick Vieira, and Wayne Rooney, have coached in MLS before coaching in Europe. However, there has been limited success so far from these coaches.
Wilfried Nancy
Nancy spent his playing career in the lower divisions of French soccer at clubs including Toulan and Olympique Noisy-le-Sec. Back then, he would not have been able to dream that he would one day be linked with a historic club such as Celtic.
Credit must go to Nancy for working his way up from coaching the Montreal Impact Academy to being CF Montreal's assistant and then first team manager. He impressed with the Canadian side, and now with the Columbus Crew.
Auston Trustry
Nancy knows MLS and that top players can be developed in the league. Celtic currently has a former Colorado Rapids player in Auston Trusty, on its roster. The USMNT international has had spells in England at Arsenal, Birmingham City, and Sheffield United between his time in MLS and Scotland.
Trusty has played just four Scottish Premiership games for Celtic this season. However, he could be in for more of a star role if Nancy were to get the job.

Columbus Crew
The Columbus Crew may have just been defeated by FC Cincinnati in MLS playoffs. However, it will still be a huge loss for the club to lose Nancy.
This season was not his best, as the Crew finished seventh in the Eastern Conference. However, before this, Nancy guided the Crew to second and third-place finishes in the division.
His best achievements with the Crew are winning MLS Cup in 2023 and Leagues Cup the following year. He was also named MLS coach of the year in 2024.
Kieran Tierney
Kieran Tierney has not looked his best since returning to Celtic from Arsenal. He is only 28, but has been plagued by injuries in recent seasons.
It could be bad news for Tierney if Nancy were to come in, as he would be coming in with a clean slate. Therefore, there would be no room for sentiment. A player such as Tierney, who is in his second stint at the club, may suffer as a result of this.
Martin O'Neill
O'Neill knew coming into the role that this would not be a long-term option for Celtic. He had great success with the Hoops in the early 2000s. However, his last job in management prior to this interim spell with Celtic with a brief stint at Nottingham Forest six years ago.
He has since been working as a pundit on talkSPORT, and it appears his time in full-time management is now behind him.
