Celtic return to action on Thursday night when they face Celta Vigo in the Europa League. The Bhoys have lost both of their first two games in this competition, and they are in need of a result against a Celta side that finds itself in the same position having also lost two games so far.

But make no mistake, the Spanish West Coast club will offer a big test for Celtic, currently in eighth place in LaLiga. Ahead of the clash, we have put together a list of players who need to produce a big performance here.

Mika Baur

Baur has produced some excellent performances for Celtic this season, especially when you consider he is being asked to play a midfield game he is not very used to.

Baur is being asked to play a little deeper and do more defensive work than he is used to, and he has largely done an okay job with it.

The Germany international clearly has plenty of on-the-ball ability, and he has impressed with his energetic approach to the game in midfield. But we can't hide that he has often gone missing in Europe, against teams of a better standard, and we need to see him stand out in one of these games sooner or later.

Benjamin Nygren

Nygren has been accumulating good number but without dominating games, although he put in a much better performance on Sunday, against Hearts. He was much more involved in that game, scoring twice and getting on the ball much more.

We need to see that happen in Europe. Celtic are not going to beat some of these better teams without their best players coming to the party, and Nygren is without doubt one of their very best players.

The Bhoys need the Sweden international to put in a big performance here in what will likely be seen as a must-win game.

Kasper Hogh

Hogh is unlikely to start this game, but he will almost certainly have the opportunity to impress off the bench. Hogh needs to start living up to his £11million fee.

We keep saying this, but we can put the lack of goals down to confidence and say it will come, but there is no excuse for his hold-up play to have died off. Nygren can absolutely provide that even without the goals and it will help Celtic.

Hogh needs to step up to the plate.
