The midfield is struggling

The middle of the park has been viewed as one of Celtic’s strongest areas for a while now. But recently, it has started to look like a bit of a weakness.

Callum McGregor has not been at his consistent best over the past few games, while Reo Hatate’s form has appeared to have faded away quite a bit as well after a blistering start to life at Celtic, which saw him proving to be the match winner in the last Glasgow Derby, scoring twice and assisting the other one in a 3-0 win over the Rangers.

Tom Rogic, who was one of Celtic’s best players in the first half of the season, has appeared to struggle a bit in recent games as well. On the other hand, the likes of James McCarthy, Ismaila Soro, Nir Bitton and Yosuke Ideguchi have not been able to establish themselves in the first-team picture on a consistent basis.

Overall, the midfield has looked completely off colour in recent games and if the club are to get back to their best, they will need to find a way to get the team performing in the middle of the park once again.

Dealing with set-pieces

This is an area that has proven to be Celtic’s Achilles’ heel for a while now. Whenever the Hoops have a set-piece to defend, the club’s fans must be nervous about what is to come.

The defence might have improved quite a bit since the arrival of Postecoglou as manager but this is one aspect where they continue to struggle and badly.

It will be interesting to see if the likes of Carl Starfelt, Cameron Carter-Vickers, Josip Juranovic, Greg Taylor and others are able to improve this side of their games, as well as the other outfield players, who also have to be better defensively from set-piece situations. The same goes for it on the other end of the pitch too.
