Montgomery had made a bright start to the season under the management of Ange Postecoglou and not too long ago, many felt that there was a chance that he could become the regular left-back for Celtic this season.

His performances would eventually fade away though and in recent times, he has failed to make an impression.

A versatile player capable of playing all over the left flank, Montgomery is still 19 years of age and has plenty of time on his hands to develop further though.

But at this point of time, he might not get a lot of minutes on the pitch at Celtic. Thus, a move away from Parkhead does make a lot of sense for the youngster and it does look like a loan exit might be on the cards for him.

Rumours have suggested that Montgomery could be headed to Kilmarnock on loan as the Championship club look to win promotion to the Premiership.

Mikey Johnston

At one point of time, Johnston was considered as the next big thing at Celtic. The youngster had come through the youth ranks at the club and made a big impact upon first breaking into the first-team picture.

His development has appeared to stall though as a result of one injury after another and at this point of time, he is struggling to make an impact in the Hoops’ first-team.

At 22 years of age, he is still a youngster but won’t be considered in that category for much longer. Thus, Johnston needs to find his form and his fitness as soon as possible.

With him struggling on the pitch, playing time could be difficult to come for him at Celtic and as a result, sending him out on loan to a club where he will play regular football is not a bad idea at all. Now it remains to be seen how things turn out.
