Celtic miss a lot of chances

It is safe to say that Celtic have not been at their clinical best for a long time and have not been able to put games to bed when they should this season.

There were no lack of chances against Alloa Athletic for the Hoops, but neither Giorgos Giakoumakis nor Daizen Maeda looked to be on the top of their game in front of goal.

As a result, the game ended with a nervy finish and a 2-1 win when Celtic should have cruised to victory instead. And while this kind of finishing might not have been punished by Alloa Athletic, it might very well be by other opponents over coming games.

Thus, this is an area that Ange Postecoglou’s side definitely need to work on, with much tougher games coming up over the coming weeks and months.

Injuries continue to be a problem

Injuries have been Celtic’s Achilles’ heel this season and it looks it could continue to be a big problem for them.

Just against Alloa Athletic, several of the Hoops’ players were forced off the pitch with injury scares and one will be hoping that it is nothing significant and they can feature over the coming weeks.

With Maeda and Tom Rogic going away on international duty soon, and Kyogo and David Turnbull looking set to remain on the sidelines with their respective injury problems for the foreseeable future, Postecoglou will be hoping that as many of his players remain fit as possible.

In that regard, the game against Alloa Athletic was not great for Celtic and one can only hope that they have managed to escape without picking up any serious problems.

The Hoops have a huge game in the Scottish Premiership coming up next when they face Hearts, who sit at third, away from home.
