Centre-back is an area that Celtic could do with more options in. Christopher Jullien has been out of action for a long time and did not make a single appearance in 2021. And while it is believed that he is finally closing in on a return, it will be very interesting to see how he performs after such a long period of time out on the sidelines.

On the other hand, the recent form of Carl Starfelt has managed to raise a lot of eyebrows as well, after he had impressed before his injury.

Stephen Welsh is a good back up option to have but he just does not look ready to be a regular in the starting XI yet.

Cameron Carter-Vickers has been solid but he is only on loan till the end of the season from Tottenham Hotspur and it remains to be seen if Celtic can agree a permanent deal.

Thus, someone like Souttar could prove to be a solid addition for Celtic right now. He has impressed for both Hearts and the Scotland national team recently and on top of that, his current deal is believed to run out next summer.

Benjamin Siegrist

Celtic could certainly do with another goalkeeper as well, with Vasilis Barkas being linked with a Parkhead exit in January.

Scott Bain has been at Celtic for a long time but he has never quite managed to nail down the spot between the posts for a considerable length of time. And while Joe Hart has been superb, at 34 years of age, he is not a long-term solution.

Benjamin Siegrist is someone who has impressed immensely during his time at Dundee United. And his current deal is expected to run out next summer as well. Thus, he might possibly be available on a bargain transfer fee and would be a solid addition for Celtic.
