Along with Jota, Kyogo has been Celtic’s talisman this season. And while there is very little to no hope of the Portuguese winger being fit in time to feature against Hibernian this Sunday, Ange Postecoglou has not ruled the Japanese star out yet.

Kyogo picked up an injury in the game against Real Betis. It was a match with nothing riding on the result and thus, Postecoglou did make a mistake by bringing the Japanese star on when Albian Ajeti was forced off with an injury himself.

Now, it remains to be seen if Kyogo ends up featuring against Hibernian in the League Cup final at Hampden Park. From all the comments and reports over the past week or so, it does feel like the matter is touch and go right now.

Postecoglou has shown during his time at Celtic that he likes to keep his cards close to his chest and has a penchant for springing a selection surprise or two. Hopefully he will give the fans one on Sunday in the form of Kyogo.

According to stats from Transfermarkt, Kyogo has scored 14 goals and provided 5 assists in 24 appearances for Celtic. Thus, it is not mystery why so many fans are waiting on news on his fitness ahead of the big game.

James Forrest

Another Celtic star whose availability seems to be up in the air at this point of time is James Forrest.

Similar to Johnston, he has gone through a series of injury problems in recent times and has been in and out of the team, never quite managing to remain fit for any considerable length of time on a consistent basis.

He appears to be another player who is in a race against time to get fit for the final. And with his big match experience, it would be a major boost for Postecoglou’s side if he can even make the bench.
