The name that Celtic have been linked with most often in recent times is that of Daizen Maeda. The Japanese star has been nothing short of brilliant in this campaign.

He is currently the leading goalscorer in the J1 League despite not being an out and out striker. And in fact, it was Ange Postecoglou who had signed him for Yokohama F. Marinos, during his time as the club’s manager.

Thus, in many ways, Maeda is viewed as the perfect signing for Celtic in January. Possessing incredible pace, ability to finish with both his feet, brilliant movement inside the box and an understanding of Postecoglou’s style of football already, he might be just what the Hoops are looking for in order to strengthen their squad further.

He is just 24 years of age and would be expected to improve even further with experience. And on top of everything else, he already has experience of playing in Europe.

Thus, if Celtic are able to sign Maeda in January, it would be considered as a major coup on the part of the Hoops.

Danny Mandroiu

Celtic have already signed one player from Shamrock Rovers this season in the from of Liam Scales. But it looks they have been keeping an eye on another player from the club for a while as well.

That player is Danny Mandroiu. The midfielder has been an absolute standout for Shamrock Rovers this season. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 15 goals and provided 6 assists in 35 League of Ireland Premier Division appearances in this campaign.

There has not been a lot of excitement amongst fans about the club potentially making a move for Mandroiu, despite his brilliant performances and it is not hard to see why, considering the struggles that Scales has faced at Celtic ever since arriving in the summer from Shamrock Rovers.
