Celtic have done very well in recent times and this side looks like they could mount a Premiership title challenge this season itself despite finishing 25 points behind the Rangers in the previous campaign. As a result, Ange Postecoglou deserves tremendous credit for the job that he has done with the cards that he has been dealt.

But one has to admit that the Celtic squad does not have a lot of depth at this point of time and a few injuries to top players could leave them in trouble.

We have already seen it happen once this season when Kyogo and Callum McGregor were out of action at the same time. The Hoops definitely struggled during that period and Postecoglou must be keen not to see a repeat of that happen anytime soon.

As a result, the Hoops are expected to strengthen their squad in the upcoming January transfer window, which promises to be one of the most exciting in the Hoops’ recent history.

John Souttar has enjoyed a terrific rise in recent times. He is having a brilliant season with Hearts and recently made his mark on the international stage as well, by scoring for the Scotland national team against Denmark.

Interestingly, his current deal with Hearts is set to run out next summer and as a result, there is a lot of interest in his signature and understandably so.

As many as nine clubs from the English Championship are believed to be keeping an eye on Souttar as well as both the Glasgow giants.

Celtic could certainly do with another option in the heart of their defence considering the fact that Christopher Jullien has been out for almost a year due to an injury.
