An area that Celtic might need to strengthen in soon is their defensive midfield. The Hoops do have a few options there in the form of Ismaila Soro, James McCarthy and Nir Bitton but things have not quite worked out for any of them this season.

Soro had made a brilliant impression when he first broke into the Celtic first-team but has not been able to keep up those performances. At the moment, he is not a part of Postecoglou’s regular starting XI.

McCarthy came in the summer with a lot of expectations but has not been able to get quite up to match speed till now and has had a few fitness issues as well. His injury history is well known and the Hoops have to be careful with that.

Finally, Bitton has not played regularly at all this season and does not appear to be a big part of Postecoglou’s plans at the moment. Thus, signing someone like Henrique could be a good idea for Celtic.

Henrique has not played a lot of first-team football for Gremio till now. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has 16 appearances to his name till now and has played 809 minutes of football combined.

Henrique is very highly-rated in Brazil though. Capable of playing as a central midfielder and a defensive midfielder, he has a solid defensive side to his game while also possessing a brilliant passing range at the same time.

Thus, it is not hard to see why bringing in someone like him could be a tempting prospect for the Hoops and it is believed that a transfer fee in the range of £3.6 million could be enough to secure the signature of the 20-year-old Brazilian.
