Another name apparently being considered, as reported by Goal.com is Matteo Tognozzi. He is currently working for Juventus identifying new players for the Italian giants. His experience is a little more low profile than some of the other names being bandied around but good practical knowhow from a range of clubs and different countries will add real value.

He would also bring with him many contacts and a network across Italy, Germany and Russia where he has worked in the past. And the list of clubs that he has worked for is certainly quite impressive.

Tognozzi has operated as a sports director in a couple of lower league Italian clubs and after a spell in Russia he went on to scout for Bayer Leverkusen and Hamburg. His current time at Juventus brings more knowhow and big club experience.

He may not be the top contender but if it’s true that he is under consideration for this type of role in a new Celtic structure then it’s very encouraging and promising for the future. It’s good to see the club looking wider and possibly bringing in continental experience, where these roles work very well.
