Newly appearing in the spotlight as a contender is David Webb as reported by the Daily Mail. Amongst Webb’s experience and capabilities is the possible coincidence that he has a strong relationship and has worked successfully with Eddie Howe at Bournemouth. Could this be a continuation of that partnership taking Celtic forward with a new manager and director combination?

In addition to his time at Bournemouth with Howe, Webb brings other strong credentials. He joined Tottenham Hotspur to work with Mauricio Pochettino as identifying potential top players to recruit.

The Mail reports that Webb was heavily involved in Spurs’ decision in 2015 to sign the then Bayer Leverkusen player Heung-min Son. They also report that an early success for Webb when at Crystal Palace was spotting Wilfried Zaha playing for a local team.  Both of those suggest a good eye for a player and signing which would be invaluable for the Hoops.

Combined with his roles as technical director for Ostersund in Sweden and as head of football operations for Huddersfield Town, Webb brings good experience at various levels and a good knowledge of players in different markets. With or without Howe as manager he would look to be a good prospect, if the combination of both was to be available it may make the appointments irresistible.
