With the transfer window set to slam shut soon, the Celtic star’s Odsonne Edouard claim will be music to the ears of fans.

Odsonne Edouard remains a talented and classy player who is bound to move on at some point, for no doubt a huge fee. Keeping him for this current season will be a huge win for Celtic though. He proved his worth on Thursday with his goal away at Sarajevo securing the clubs position in the Europa League group stages. The glamour group the Hoops are drawn in will probably help provide further comfort for the striker on staying with the club for a while longer.

It hasn’t been the easiest few weeks of late though for Edouard. Injuries, needing rest, not on his usual top form are all features we’ve seen recently. To be fair he has been up against packed defences often with several opposition players close by and giving him no time or space on the ball.

That, coupled with needing better service from his own team mates has meant there hasn’t been the usual spark and finish to his play. The Sarajevo goal will help build confidence but the situation will have added a lot of pressure for the still very young Frenchman

Fortunately that’s where the players at Celtic and the club overall come in to provide encouragement and support. The Daily Record quotes Callum McGregor’s views on Edouard and his current position:

"“We always know that if he gets a half chance then you are always going to back him to score.“He maybe took a little bit of stick last week, but it’s our job to get around him and keep him happy and keep him confident.“You saw just how important he is to us again on Thursday night. He gets the goal that takes us to the group stage, so again he is showing just how vital he is to the squad.“He’s actually been in good spirits.“I don’t think he takes too much notice of what goes on around about him. He’s just a good guy and he’s always very happy.“Our job as teammates and as players is to keep everyone happy, and that’s what we’re trying to do.”"

McGregor has explained some great team spirit there. It’ll help the team overall and others will benefit individually. It’s reassuring to hear that Edouard is supported, happy and hopefully about to hit a run of form, preferably still in a Hoops shirt.

The rumours surrounding his future have been relentless but it looks like French Eddy will be a Celtic player for the foreseeable future.
