Celtic set to make move for highly-rated Championship winger
Celtic might be looking to bring in some competition for James Forrest as they are reportedly eyeing the highly-rated Championship winger.
Nobody can question the fact that James Forrest has been one of the most important players at Celtic for years now. But that does not change the fact his form has blown hot and cold for almost a year now. And for quite some time, Celtic fans have been calling for some change.
A huge reason for that is the lack of any real competition in his position. Yes, Celtic do have Karamoko Dembele but he is too young to be a regular starter for the Hoops already. As a result, Forrest is almost guaranteed to start every week and that has clearly affected his performances.
That might be about to change soon though as Celtic are reportedly looking to sign Queens Park Rangers winger Bright Osayi-Samuel. The 22-year-old is very highly-rated after scoring 6 goals and assisting a further 9 in 40 appearances last season. Talks over a new contract appear to have hit a dead-end though and he might be available on a bargain.
He is rated at around £5 million by QPR but it is unlikely that they will fetch that with his contract running out next summer. Thus, this might be a good opportunity for Celtic to swoop in and see if they can get a good deal for the Nigerian-born winger.
According to Herald Scotland, QPR had already accepted a bid from Club Brugge but the player rejected the move as he did not want to move to Belgium. It is safe to say though that the opportunity to be a part of 10IAR might be a bit more enticing than that. And he would be a solid addition to this Celtic squad which currently lacks depth on the wings.
