The Brighton manager has provided an update on Shane Duffy as he continues to be linked with a transfer move to Celtic this summer.

Celtic have been continuously linked with a move for Republic of Ireland international Shane Duffy during this transfer window and it is clear to see why. Defence has emerged as somewhat of an Achilles heel for the Hoops. There is no doubt though that someone like Duffy would exponentially improve things at the back.

The biggest issue with this defence is their inability to deal with physical forwards. A no nonsense centre-back like Shane Duffy will take care of that though and could very well compliment a ball playing defender like Christopher Jullien, with it looking very likely that Kristoffer Ajer is looking to devise a Parkhead exit.

A £2 million loan fee has been touted for the services of Duffy for a solitary season and while that is pretty stiff, it might be very well worth it. There have been conflicting reports around the media though regarding the possibility of the move.

Finally though we have an update from someone in position in the form of Brighton boss David Potter. And although it looks like he is keeping his cards close to his chest, that is not necessarily a bad thing when it comes to the chance of players leaving. As reported by The Scottish Sun, Potter said:

"“He trained today with us. Trained hard and trained well.“We’re having a pool and darts competition tonight as a bit of team building, so I imagine he’ll be one of the favourites for that.“He’s a fantastic guy. Fantastic guy. I have an amazing relationship with him.“He’s a Brighton player and we’re happy with that.”"

It is questionable though whether Duffy is having sitting on the bench for a club he was regularly starting for not too long ago. And it is very understandable that he might be looking to leave the club in this window. And Hoops fans will be hoping that him being a boyhood Celtic fan will tilt the balance in their favour.
