Brendan Rodgers is apparently preparing a bid for a Celtic star in a move which will outrage Hoops fans.

In case he had not already angered Celtic fans enough by leaving the club to hang out in the dry in the middle of the season, last summer Brendan Rodgers made enquiries about Callum McGregor. Around £20 million was quoted as the offer price back then for the 27-year-old Scottish midfielder. The offer was politely declined and a new Hoops contract was agreed for McGregor at that time, through until 2024.

Now we hear from Football Insider that their radar warns of a further bid being made by Rodgers. They tell of a Leicester City source revealing that Rodgers is planning to bid again on the back of Celtic crashing out of the Champions League last night.  (Thanks for the reminder!).

The rationale being that Leicester have some money to spare having just sold Ben Chilwell to Chelsea. Rodgers and Leicester apparently reckon Celtic will be keen to grab some cash to replace potential Champions league lost income.

Well it’s highly likely that if a bid is placed, then the Celtic board will send Rodgers packing back home with nothing to show for his latest attempt. As they did last summer too. Other players can be sold first if the money becomes that important.

McGregor has settled into a highly important and critical role within the Celtic midfield. He’s been with the club at a range of levels claiming his well deserved regular slot and being one of the first names on the team sheet as he is now. He’s certainly not going to be on any of Lennon’s lists of non triers or want aways either!

It’s a very simple message back to Rodgers – Not Interested and that will likely go from the club, the manager and the player at Celtic.

McGregor will want to be there for the ten-in-a-row chance to make history, unlike some. The message for Rodgers from fans quite probably isn’t polite enough to be shared here!
