Pundit claims exciting Celtic transfer ‘could be happening’
By Kade Kistner
One pundit believes that a transfer deal to bring in a coveted defender to Celtic very well ‘could be happening’ in the next few weeks.
Celtic could be on the verge of bringing in another player in the near future. After having signed goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas and most recently Albian Ajeti, the Hoops seem to be on a relative shopping spree.
The rumours of another, increased bid for Peterborough striker Ivan Toney are also raising eyebrows for multiple reasons. Toney is a great player who could flourish in a two up top formatioon, but what does it mean for current Celtic players like Leigh Griffiths and Odsonne Edouard’s futures?
However, if you ask any Celtic supporter what position they think the club should fortify most would say defender, 96% of them would in fact.
The good news is that talk about a loan for Brighton defender Shane Duffy has been making it rounds this past week and the rumours seem to be gaining some traction. The defender doesn’t really have a defined role at Brighton and it appears the club would be willing to listen for a season-long loan.
Simon Ferry recently spoke with Go Radio about the possibility of Celtic making a move for Duffy and here is what he had to say:
Duffy would add a wrinkle to the Hoops defence as he is seen as a more physical player. Recent complaints surrounding the Celtic defence have been that Christopher Jullien and Kristoffer Ajer have been taken advantage of as of late due to a lack of physicality. Duffy could presumably help shore up a backline that has had trouble in recent matches playing well against the target men.
Whether the plan all along was to bring in quality players at a high rate or if the Boli Bolingoli incident has spurred the Hoops to prove they are serious about the 10IAR to their supporters, we are here for it. These are the steps in the right direction.
