Celtic have reportedly made an improved offer for Peterborough United striker Ivan Toney even with the Albian Ajeti deal complete.

Celtic have just brought in West Ham striker Albian Ajeti  to help reinforce the squad that, quite frankly, has had many holes early in the season. With so many player exits it was about time the club brought in another player in addition to Greek goalkeeper Vasilis Barkas.

The addition of another striker, especially one that has the pedigree that Ajeti has makes sense. The subtraction of Vakoun Bayo via loan to Toulouse and question marks surrounding Leigh Griffiths lend logic to bringing in a striker. There is also the fact that Odsonne Edouard’s future remains murky as the Celtic board are in a tough position regarding what to do.

So, does it make sense that Celtic have increased their offer for the services of Peterborough Striker Ivan Toney according to Glasgow Live? To be completely honest, the uncertainties listed above make a good case to bring in another quality striker, especially if a deal for Edouard is inevitable, potentially even as early as this season.

While many supporters have lamented the lack of spending by the club this transfer window, it will be interesting to see the reactions if the club does indeed make a successful bid for Toney. Many want an additional central defender brought in to help alleviate the weaknesses that Kristoffer Ajer and Christopher Jullien exhibit against certain styles of opponent play i.e. physical.

If the club makes a successful bid for Toney it is unlikely that the club would bring in any other players during this transfer window considering the price tag on Barkas, Ajeti and potentially Toney.

After an embarrassing few days for the club this will go a long way in helping restore confidence in the staff as well as in the quest for 10IAR.
