It appears that the deal for one of Celtic’s biggest targets is back on after reports surfaced that they were all but dead last week.

There are so many twists and turns to these transfer deals but with talks on this one looking to have been all but over, there are now more positive signs of a return to the Celtic negotiating table for a top forward.

Hoops manager Neil Lennon has already made contact and talked with agent and player and now seems to have helped influence the player to follow up the Celtic interest.

Albian Ajeti cooled off last week when a medical to finalise the deal seemed imminent. He flew back to his Swiss home and then holidayed in Sardinia. But now with Lennon intervening further the club may be returning to the closing stages of a signing again. Sky SportsNews editor Anthony Joseph is reporting that it could be on again.

After all the to and fro let’s remind ourselves what we might be getting. Ajeti has struggled at West Ham since signing last summer, his form there is poor and appearances limited. But they signed a great player and fans there were excited by his arrival.

Let’s not forget what could be another strong factor in influencing Ajeti to sign. While at Basel he struck up a great relationship both on and off the park with Mohamed Elyounoussi. When he is looking to show what he can do and forget the difficulties at West Ham, linking back up, again with an ex-teammate and friend could be the way to go.

It might still take into next week to finalise and that’ll mean more rumour and gossip regarding Toney and others. It’ll help see if the Vakoun Bayo imminent move completes as looks likely with early reports indicating he has signed for Toulouse. That’ll free up wages and a space in the squad.

Ajeti looks to be a quality player and one that if he hits form, could make a difference. Let’s get this one over the line soon.
