Celtic are reportedly eyeing another Manchester City starlet who has failed to break into Pep Guardiola’s super team.

Celtic have enjoyed a very prosperous relationship with Manchester City in the last few years when it comes to the transfer market. A number of players have made the jump from the Premier League giants to the perennial Scottish Champions either on loan or on a permanent. Of course, there have been both hits and misses, as is expected.

It was just last season that Celtic signed Jeremie Frimpong from them in an absolute steal. Names like Olivier Ntcham, Patrick Roberts, Dedryck Boyata and John Guidetti also come to mind when talking about players who made the transition successfully. But then there have been players like Daniel Arzani who did not find quite the same success. Celtic want more though and have been linked with 21-year-old forward Lukas Nmecha by The Scottish Sun.

Nmecha was very highly rated as a youth star and represented England on 31 times during his youth career. Since then though he made the jump to Germany and has represented their under-21 team on 8 occasions as well. He has not found quite the same success on the senior level though.

Capable of playing as a striker as well as on both the wings, he went on separate loans to Wolfsburg and Middlesbrough last season but failed to find his feet at either club. In 25 combined appearances, he neither found the back of the net nor assisted a goal.

At the end of the day a forward is judged by his output in the attacking third and Nmecha produced nothing last season. Now while there is no reason that he cannot find success on Scottish shores, it does not seem to be the right time to give someone like him a chance at Parkhead. Not with 10IAR hanging in the balance.
