Which teams can Celtic face in the UCL qualifying rounds?

Qualifying Round 3 – September 15 and 16

Oh dear. This is where it could get really sticky, but if you want the glory of the group games you have to fight for and earn that reward. If we have made it through so far we’ll be in the draw on 31 August for this round.

Celtic could be facing up several teams ranking above FC Midtjylland in this round. For example against Red Star Belgrade, a long away trip to Garabag Agdam from Azerbaijan or in TelAviv against Maccabi Tel Aviv could all be difficult games and trips.

There isn’t an obvious fun trip with these and other tough options. But a quite brutal option to face Legia Warsaw exists and history has often found ways to bring back old ghosts and foes . Rather than practice penalties in case of a draw after extra time, we might see Legia’s admin team focussed heavily on checking and rechecking registration papers. They’d not live down another mistake!

It could be a tough away for fans too given the history and while we might lament the lack of an away option for some games, the Legia ultras probably mean it’s a good thing on this occasion.
