By the time we get to the Play off round it’s now a two legged home and away match, which seems correct and appropriate with so much riding on it. Assuming Celtic have won through this far and all other games have gone to form and to seeding we could be facing one of:

  • FC Astana from Kazakhstan, been there done that, tough matches though and a long trip. Who can forget that Dembele penalty?
  • Slavia Prava from the Czech Republic. This would surely be the ideal away trip for fans, great beer, great prices, lovely fun city and let’s not forget, ex Celtic winger Johnny Madden played for the Prague team and was their first professional manager back in 1905 for 25 years. He earned the name “Father of Czech football”
  • Ludogorets Razgrad from Bulgaria, who have featured in the group stages of the Champions League  or Europa League over several recent years.
  • Young Boys of Switzerland are still to be confirmed but are the likely last option here. Not that impressive against Rangers in the last Europa League, they’d still be a tough opponent.

As indeed would they all. Nervy movements beckon, a few signings in place by then to bolster the squad all helping to make success and a win through to the group, stages possible. Perhaps by the time those are being staged there might be more possibility of fans in attendance, more travel allowed and some fantastic games to be seen in person.

Must Read. Even the Rangers camp is giving up on stopping Celtic 10IAR. light
