3 things we learned from Celtic’s 3-1 win vs Hibernian
By StevieMac
Our new midfield breakthroughs
Karamoko Dembele – Maybe the game where the boy becomes a man. It was a busy first half for him. Some very neat play, good runs in the box and a couple of very decent attempts, Dembele eventually got Celtic’s opening goal. His first in the first team, sadly behind closed doors as it would have been loudly celebrated by the fans. It was a great cool left foot host past the Hibernian keeper.
Dembele continued to grow in the second half. He used his strength to win a ball back and play through to lead up to the second goal. He was very strong in midfield and used tactically in several positions. He looked very sharp, skilful and not at all out of place. A goal and his help for the second both cap a very good performance. One which is very likely to keep him involved in the first team squad.
Luca Connell – He’s not been seen much near the first team, but that too may change. Luca looked excellent in midfield after coming on at half time to replace Kerr McInroy, who had himself joined Saturday’s game against Ross County as sub for Greg Taylor.
Connell evidenced his super control and distribution, playing some great passes through to the forwards regularly. He didn’t look out of place at all and was very impressive with good tempo, passing and link up play alongside that vision and ability for a smart pass. We should look forward to seeing more of what Connell can do because he looks like another with real potential.
