With over 100,000 votes cast thus far, it seems Celtic have swept the Scottish Premiership’s Team of the Season when it comes to midfielders.

With the winners announced today on Twitter, it seems the Celtic trio of McGregor, Elyounoussi, and Forrest have swept the voting for the Premiership’s Team of the Season in midfield with likely more players on the way.

First announced was James Forrest carrying 56% of some 19,000+ votes for the League’s right midfielder of the season.

Appearing in all but two matches in league play for the Hoops this abbreviated season, Forrest had a league-high 14 assists on top of 10 goals. Hoops fans are well familiar with Forrest’s ability, being one of the best players in Scottish play this season.

The next announced was left midfield where Mohamed Elyounoussi locked down 44% of the vote in a fairly narrow win over Rangers’ Ryan Kent. The Norwegian international on loan from England put on a great display during his limited appearances due to injuries this season with four goals and two assists in 10 league appearances.

While his future at Celtic remains unclear, he has definitely proven himself in his time here and would be welcomed back for a future loan stint and the quest for 10-in-a-row next season.

The final winner announced today was Callum McGregor for Team of the Season’s centre midfielder. With 30 appearances in league play, Callum had nine goals and six assists on the campaign.

With more voting underway currently for the forward positions, Hoops fans can expect more wins from players like Odsonne Édouard, who lead the league in goals on season with 22, a whopping nine more than the next player, Rangers’ Jermaine Defoe. At the time of this article, he leads with a narrow 39%-38% margin over Rangers’ Afredo Morelos.
