A lot of Celtic fans have reacted very angrily to the club’s announcement as they find themselves in a bit of a dilemma heading into 10IAR season.

It’s uncertain times we are living in right now. One thing that is for sure right now though is that Celtic season ticket holders will have to pay the same amount to watch the game on their televisions next season as they would have to do to watch them live at Parkhead. Suffice to say a lot of people are very angry with this decision.

The SPFL managed to come to a deal with Sky that will introduce virtual season tickets to the fans next season. Now it is understandable why fans will not want to cough up that kind of money to watch the game on a television, especially those households who have more than one season ticket.

Add to that the fact that a lot of people have lost their jobs over the past few months as a result of the global pandemic and the situation appears even worse. Yes, the club have lost a money too and will lose even more next season on matchday revenue, but that cannot be an excuse for charging loyal fans astronomical fees for a glorified streaming service.

Another huge controversy is how only season ticket holders have this service available to them. As a result, the rest of the Celtic fans in the United Kingdom and Ireland have no way of watching the games. Thankfully, Celtic TV will work normally outside of these regions.

A number of fans took the oppurtunity to vent their frustrations when the club posted on Twitter, asking them to renew their season tickets:

At this point of time, it is about whether the fans are willing to help the club out by paying for this service so that they can earn a part of their matchday revenue next season. No streaming service will ever be worth the money the club are charging. So it is completely understandable if somebody decides to not renew, it would not make them any less of a supporter.

Trending. Celtic might be set to lose another promising player. light
