Celtic FC’s streaming site makes an announcement on its future for the 2021 campaign.

In a tweet from the club’s streaming site Celtic TV on Thursday, it was confirmed that the upcoming virtual season ticket through Sky Sports for the 2021 campaign will indeed be a separate feature.

Celtic TV allows Hoops fans abroad an outlet to stream the squad’s matches throughout the SPFL season. First reported by the Scottish Sun, it will be good to see this streaming option remain in place for the foreseeable future.

With teams unable to host fans for home games this upcoming campaign due to the COVID-19 crisis, the SPFL released a deal with Sky Sports to offer a virtual season ticket for fans to view home games in the upcoming campaign for a 10th League title in a row. Clubs will be setting their own prices and amounts for this virtual service, with the number offered correlating to their number of season tickets sold for the recently abbreviated campaign.

Currently, the deal only supports home games, but Aberdeen’s club chairman Dave Cormack hinted at a potential deal for away matches to be supported through a similar feature, saying:

"“Under this deal AFC will be able to offer virtual access to season ticket holders for all closed-door home games and will continue to work with our colleagues at fellow Premiership clubs to explore potential arrangements to show away games.”"

With no deal announced of yet, Hoops fans in the UK and Ireland may only have the ability to view the home games from Parkhead, but at least there is hope on the horizon for fans to be able to watch the Bhoys take points at Ibrox as well.

Celtic fans outside of the UK and Ireland can continue enjoy football on Celtic TV like they normally would without any fear of this new virtual season ticket.
