After one Celtic player saw his exit all he is worried about is learning how to walk again.

It takes a long time and years of hard work to get to the top of any sport, and hours upon hours of training and preparation to stay at the top. With this high intensity comes the risk of injury, and to 22-year old former Celtic player Calvin Miller his career suffered a setback due to this constant strain. He has even had to learn how to walk again following the surgery, per Video Celts.

Miller has played for Celtic since 2016 until he was loaned to Dundee in the summer of 2018, a fellow Premiership team before being loaned in early 2019 to Ayr United. He returned to The Hoops and during a friendly match in September 2019 he was injured, tearing his ACL and leaving him out of competition for eight and a half months.

Miller’s contract with The Hoops ended around the time that the global pandemic really broke out, the option that were once available have quietened for now. He is now healed, but has no game to return to as of yet.

Speaking with the Scottish Sun, Miller opened up about his time with the Hoops:

"“I tried to get out on loan but didn’t manage it. Maybe two weeks after the window shut I played my first or second reserve game to get my fitness up and did my ACL.“That was me done for the season so it couldn’t have worked out any worse. The physios at Celtic were great and helped with the mental and physical side.“They pushed me through things I didn’t think I’d be able to take as I had to learn how to walk again. They drove me through my limits and I’ve benefited now but I spoke to Chris McCart and John Kennedy last week and when you hear it for real it sinks in even more.“It was emotional when I put it out on social media I was leaving.”"

At the moment he is a free agent but we may see him at Parkhead yet, per MSN Sport, Miller has teased that he has not put his career with Celtic behind just yet. But if it comes to that, he wants to follow in the footsteps of freed Celt, Andy Roberston, who has had a great career after leaving the team behind.

Miller has been given words of encouragement by Kieran Tierney, Arsenal player and a lifelong friend that came up with Miller in the youth football scene:

"“KT told me not to be too disappointed because he is in no doubt I will get something and back playing at a top level. He is also going to put me in touch with a physio to make sure my knee is perfect and ready to go.”"

Members of the Bhoys have also offered Miller their support in this trying time:

"“The likes of Jeremie Frimpong and Mikey Johnston also called. I know I have made friends for life.”"

He has also reflected about his time playing under Brendan Rodgers, and how much of a learning experience it was for the 22-year old:

"“I played a few matches in Brendan’s first season. I got four or five games and got the man of the match against Kilmarnock.“I thought I was going to kick on but I never got back in for another six months. That Celtic team was at such a high level where they never lost a league game.“Brendan was great, he had so much knowledge of the game and he improved you as a player.“It was great training with boys you looked up to and supported.“I was with the best players in Scotland. I leave with nothing but good memories.”"

We would like to thank Calvin Miller for his service to the club and wish him all the best of luck for the future, wherever that may lie.
