Charlie Nicholas is once again destroyed for his most recent claim about Celtic.

Celtic has already seen the departure of four players this offseason. Fan favourite and Irishman Jonny Hayes was among them, as well as Jozo Simunovic. Hayes’s departure came as a bit of a surprise to not just the fanbase, but apparently to the player as well. According to Hayes he believed that the club was going to bring him back.

While there has been plenty of talk of bringing back goalkeeper Fraser Forster on a permanent deal, and possibly retaining the services of Mohamed Elyounoussi, there has been little in the way of who would leave in order to make it happen.

Bringing both of those players back, or even just one such as Forster, would require some financial leverage that the club would have to create. Chris Sutton has already suggested the Hoops should use their entire transfer budget on Forster. But now Charlie Nicholas has taken it one step further.

Speaking to the Scottish Sun, Nicholas has pegged three players who he thinks the club should offload that would make retaining these other players much more feasible:

"“And if Olivier Ntcham has to be sold to finance the deal, then they should do it…“Boli Bolingoli should also be sold and I would get rid of Vakoun Issouf Bayo in a heartbeat, although it would be hard to get much value for these players in the current market.”"

And of course his talk of offloading players has all but sparked some out-lash against Nicholas on social media platforms:

It is quite surprising that Nicholas has not learned that in this fanbase you don’t talk about which players you are fine subtracting from the club. In doing so you open yourself to intense ridicule from one of the most passionate fanbases in the entire world across all sports.
