Celtic have identified Edouard replacement in case he leaves
Celtic have reportedly identified a replacement for Odsonne Edouard in case the Frenchman ends up leaving the club in the summer.
Every Celtic fan will be hoping that the club can keep hold of Odsonne Edouard next season when they challenge for a historical tenth straight Scottish league title. But the fact of the matter is that the Frenchman has been continuously linked with a move away from the club and the possibility of an exit still remains.
Edouard has been an absolute superstar during his time at Celtic. In 45 appearances for the Hoops last season, the Frenchman scored 27 goals and assisted a further 19 goals. That is a staggerring involvement in more than a goal a game.
Naturally clubs all around Europe have been circling around the striker as a result and with just 2 years left on his contract, it seems to be only a matter of time before Celtic are forced into parting with their prized asset.
As a result, it looks like the Hoops are already preparing for the unfortunate scenario in which Edouard ends up leaving Parkhead. And according to The Telegraph, they have identified Israeli striker Shon Weissman as a potential replacement.
The 24-year-old has been in incredible form this season, scoring 29 goals in 30 appearances along with 4 assists as well. And that will be the production that the club will be looking for if they are to somehow replace Edouard.
In a perfect world though, Edouard will be staying at Parkhead for atleast the next season when the club will look to seal a magnificent 10-in-a-row. The board are sure that the chance to be a part of such a historical team will convince the Frenchman to stay on. And Neil Lennon has also given positive updates regarding the situation.
But things can change very quickly in football and it is a good thing that the club are preparing for the worst case scenario. We cannot afford to take any chances with 10IAR on the line.
