There has been a lot of drama surrounding Kristoffer Ajer’s situation on Celtic, but now there has been another twist in this saga.

Since before the season was ever postponed due to the novel coronavirus, there have been rumblings of a possible move for Celtic’s Norwegian centre-back Kristoffer Ajer. A few months back, Kris Ajer’s agent went to the media in an attempt to help leverage the move.

It makes sense for a player of Ajer’s calibre to want to eventually move on to a bigger club if that lies in their future plans. If a player doesn’t want to stick around a keep winning championships that’s on them. But to leverage a move the way Ajer’s agent is doing it shows little tact considering the opportunities this club has given him.

Now, there seems to be another major twist in this transfer saga. Leicester City, and their manager Brendan Rodgers seem to have been the motivation behind all of these talks. It would make sense, the centre-back could go play for his former manager in the English Premier League. But that just does not appear to be the case anymore.

According to Leicestershire Live, the EPL club has no interest in Ajer, and reportedly will not be pursuing him during this summer’s transfer window:

"“Leicester City have no interest in Celtic defender Kristoffer Ajer and will not be pursuing a move for the centre-back this summer, LeicestershireLive understands.“City have consistently been linked with a host of Celtic stars since manager Brendan Rodgers made the move from Parkhead to the King Power Stadium last February. However, despite speculation, Norwegian international Ajer is not among City’s targets.”"

This is an interesting turn of events. The chief suspect club apparently has no interest? While it may be hard to believe, those words are pretty cut and clear. So, could the Norwegian still be on the move?

There is apparently speculation that Italian-side AC Milan has some interest in Ajer, and that a bidding war could begin for the centre-back’s services despite Leicester being out of the running. This summer may prove to be a wild one.
