With the summer transfer window about to start heating up, Celtic are looking forward to clubs starting a £25 million bidding war for one of its stars.

There have been numerous rumours flying around since before the season was even postponed about one Celtic star’s potential future with the club. That star in question is Norwegian centre-back Kristoffer Ajer. Just before the season was postponed due to the novel coronavirus, Kris Ajer’s agent made sent some shock waves through the media.

Ajer’s agent claimed that his player wanted a move away from Celtic to a larger club in Europe, and would likely not be returning the Hoops for the next campaign. This came as a bit of a shock as Ajer has been a mainstay in the first-team and still has years left on his contract.

Then rumours began to float that former-Celtic manager and current Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers was behind the scenes trying to facilitate a move to Leicester for Ajer. However, those talks have reportedly cooled.

But now there remains other suitors who are willing to spend the cash necessary to obtain Ajer’s services including Italian side AC Milan.

According to Calcio Mercato and transcribed by Celts Are Here, a bidding war may be at hand:

"““Celtic rubs its hands: auction base 25 million euros.”"

It would be sad to see Ajer leave considering the relationship he has built with centre-back Christopher Jullien. However, Ajer has seen his fair share of ups and downs in his level of play, and if the club can secure even £20 million for the player then he is all but assuredly going to be moved.

Neil Lennon stated that his club would be revamped and will have a different look as they pursue 10-in-a-row. Ajer could be one of the biggest changes coming this offseason.
